What is the Ideal Temperature for My Humidor?

08.14

In general, in order to keep your cigars in optimal condition, most cigar aficionados and professionals agree that your humidor’s internal temperature should be kept no higher than 75 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature level is high enough to discourage the hatching of tobacco beetles, but it is not so high that your cigars will run the risk of becoming dried out. Additionally, excessively higher temps can also lead to the drying out of, warping, and cracking of the cigar, which renders it unsmokeable altogether. On the opposite end of the spectrum, at the very least, the internal temperature of your humidor should not be allowed to fall below 54 degrees Fahrenheit, because these lower temperatures can seriously impede the desired aging process of the cigars. In order to prevent the hatching of tobacco beetles and other undesirable side effects, it is important to maintain proper humidity levels of 68-72% within a humidor, in addition to the proper temperature.
