Everyone thinks their script is amazing. So it’s hard to admit that you might need help on your story from an outside source. But here’s the thing – if everyone who reads your script is unimpressed, it’s probably not all of their faults.
If you’re really confident in your script’s potential, then maybe you just need help from screenplay consultant to bring your screenplay to the next level.
I wrote a script once that wasn’t very good. I can acknowledge that now, because I’ve since made that script much better. I was too close to the story for the longest time, and I couldn’t see any holes. But when multiple readers came back to me with the same thinly veiled disappointment in what they’d read, I was forced to confront the reality of my screenplay. It was bad.
So I hired someone to spot the holes I couldn’t. And they did just that. Now my script’s amazing. If I do say so myself.
